Using Ensemble to integrate disparate application systems

We have been InterSystems partners for a number of years and tremendously enjoy the reliability, powerful features and excellent support of its software products for developers, most notably the Caché object data base and developing environment, as well as Ensemble, its powerful integration platform.

With this post we make the readers of our blog aware of the unique capabilities Ensemble holds for integrating disparate systems. While Ensemble is known for being heavily deployed in the medical space, we use it successfully for building composite applications in the Cloud for other industries, such as Financial Services and Accounting.

SMSF administration in the Cloud - A RSDataWeb case study

Our recent article about "Accountants moving into the Cloud to administer SMSFs", yielded an excellent response by some large and mid-sized Accounting firms with SMSF clients.

Most of these firms are well aware of the benefits that Cloud computing can offer and are keen to start moving into the direction. The automation of investment and cash transactions is an excellent area to start, as it allows to integrate with a large number of external data providers.

RSDataWeb is a web-based data automation & integration platform, that integrates a wide range of electronic financial data feeds into streams of real-time and historic data helping to eliminate the tedious tasks of client data preparation in most accounting offices. RSDataWeb is not an afterthought by otherwise non-web oriented software vendors, but a powerful scalable web solution that saves Accounting and Advice firms real staff time and money.

As a case in point, we’ve put together a case study of an  Australian Accounting firm, which automated its data preparation with the help of RSDataWeb.

Enjoy the introductory video!

InterSystem's vision for breakthrough applications

Recently Bill Laberis, Senior Editorial Director of  International Data Group (IDG) interviewed Joe DeSantis, Vice President Software Development for InterSystems Corporation. Joe expanded on Intersystem's view of breakthrough software applications, which he classified by three aspects:

  • driving intelligent action

According to InterSystems three elements are needed to build a breakthrough application:

  • storage of information (structured and unstructured data)
  • be connectable
  • provide insight

'Platformonopoly' - investment platforms now and in the future

At the recent 2011 Wraps, Platforms and Mastertrusts conference on the Sunshine coast, Hunt's Group senior consultant Wayne Wilson presented valuable insights about where he believes the platform industry is going.

With our RSDataWeb data automation & integration solution we follow the space very closely, as our customers and their clients have massive investments placed on platforms. We always make sure that we fully automate the data flow from sources like the platforms to RSDataWeb and from there to the endpoints, i.e. accounting reporting and tax lodgements.

Technology's role in providing superior service

A recent insightful article about 'How bad words can sometimes be a good thing in marketing', published by our favorite online mag 'strategy and business', led us to the great work of an organisation by the name of 'Up Your Service'. They help other organisations worldwide to introduce and improve on their service cultures. One of their excellent training videos concentrates on the role technology can play for providing excellent service.

The message of this video nicely coincides with how we look at clients using 'RSDataWeb', our automation and integration technology. All our clients' hard -tiring, boring and error prone- manual tasks are being replaced or eliminated with our web based technology, leaving ample room for our clients' employees and managers/partners to truly concentrate on their clients' needs and expectations.

Enjoy!

Cloud computing changes enterprise IT

In this ingenious video, Lee Geishecker, VP of Research at Saugatuck Technology, discusses how new Cloud Business Models are changing the landscape of IT in modern enterprises. Lee correctly states that in today’s technology and business environment it is not a question of if,  but how and when Cloud computing is introduced. She consequently suggests a more holistic approach to enterprise IT in the Cloud.

We totally support this view for today’s businesses. We’ve designed and built our SaaS system RSDataWeb for Accounting and Advice firms in such a way that it easily integrates with a wide range of IT solutions and data sources. It forms a great basis for supporting  any holistic reviews and enterprise application strategies for our target industries.
