A Remarkable Open Letter to Aspiring Young Consultants
The following open letter was recently written by Frank Matter, Head of the McKinsey management consulting business in Germany, to young prospective consultants, who will be entering the profession soon. The letter is remarkable in that it does away with the picture of the lone star consultant ruthlessly on the way to partnership. Instead Frank paints the more timely picture of team-minded professionals who not only find value in their daily consulting engagements with clients, but also in personal exciting projects. Whoever, like myself, grew up as a management consultant in the 80s and 90s may wish to have had been exposed to similar leadership philosophies at the time. Reading this, you may wish to be a young aspiring consultant again.
